WebOct 15, 2014 · Yeah, I think Trout's right. That'll come in a bit hot. I used the classictone 40-18027 with the 550-0-550 winding in use and loaded up, it was still something like 320. I wound up using a zener diode to knock it down further. I'm seeing about 280V on the plates now, IIRC. This is towards the low side...but certainly within Fender's spec.
